8ft Sailing/Rowing Pram 'Porgy', Design #195

Porgy was built in our shop in 2013 as a tender for a 40ft sailboat.  Good rowing performance, load carrying and the ability to carry a simple rig were the requirements.  Construction is double skin white cedar on bent white cedar frames for a fancy traditional feel.  The centreboard trunk is sealed to prevent flooding when heavily loaded.

Although construction and finish of the original lean towards the fancy, this boat could be built by any of the common methods:  strip and glass, glued lapstrake plywood or traditional clinker.
